Mental Illness Family-to-Family Support Group

NAMI Family-to-Family Mental Illness Support Class

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) hosts Family-to-Family Classes, a free, 8-session education program specifically for family members, partners, and friends of adults (18+) who live with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping, and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. NAMI Family-to-Family not only provides critical information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope.

Visit www.nami-sat.org. for information on the next round of NAMI Family-to-Family Classes.

Mental Illness Peer-to-Peer Support Group

NAMI Peer-to-PeerMental Illness Support Class

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) hosts Peer-to-Peer Classes, a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Taught by trained leaders with lived experience, this program includes activities, discussions, and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches. NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a safe, confidential space. The course provides an opportunity for mutual support and growth. Experience compassion and understanding from people who relate to your experiences. This is a place to learn more about recovery in an accepting environment.

Support Group for Adoption, Foster, & Kinship Families

Alliance 4 Orphans Groups

Monthly support groups are a place to be encouraged and equipped alongside fellow foster, adoptive and kinship families. Learn from experienced leaders and fellow foster, adoptive and kinship parents as they discuss planned topics that will help you parent children from hard places. Also, enjoy the freedom to be honest with a group of other parents who can truly empathize. You will have the opportunity to connect with local resources and earn training hours if needed.

No family should walk this journey alone…we are better together.

Support groups are hosted throughout our area. All groups are open to any foster, adoptive or kinship family. Each group meets 10 times per year. Please contact the support group coordinator for your area for specific times and locations. alliance4orphans.org/support
