Made for this Moment

2021 will be the 175th year of First Presbyterian Church’s ministry, and San Antonio needs FPC now more than ever.

The good news is that our Lord made us for this moment. As faithful Mordecai said to young Esther, “who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.” (Esther 4:14)

Over the last 175 years, God has given each generation the resources it needed to fulfill God’s mission in its own time. Now is our moment.

God has given us the vision, he has given us the means, the tools, the talent, and the people. We need every family in the church to share the blessings God has entrusted to our care. Our church is investing in the future of God’s work through Children’s and Youth ministry. We are providing pastoral care to those who need it. We are providing local ministries with resources and people, and we are providing opportunities for the First family to enjoy fellowship together. Most of all, we are spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. I am asking each one of you to rise to this moment, knowing that our Lord has placed you here for Such a Time as This.

God has given us resources for this moment. He has made us by his grace, by his faith, and by his love. He has equipped us with spiritual gifts, heartfelt passions, abilities, personalities, and experiences. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

We are grateful for our past, but the most important year in the history of First Presbyterian Church is this year. This year is the year, and now is the moment, that we hear the voice of our Lord Jesus calling and respond. San Antonio needs FPC, and FPC needs you.

Grace and Peace,
– Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller
