2020 Stewardship Campaign

Heritage of Stewardship | How We Do What We Do

No vision of God goes unfulfilled, and for 174 years the members and families of First Presbyterian Church have used God’s gifts to give substance to His vision.

In the last few days, you will have received an outstanding publication called Heritage in Mission. This beautiful publication is designed to introduce our members and community to FPC’s heritage of hope. It is sure to fill you with joy and inspiration.

Our heritage of mission happened because of a heritage of stewardship. Our mission is “what” we do. Faithful stewardship is “how” we do it.

What is stewardship? Simply put, it means “using God’s gifts for God’s purposes.” We are able to do what we do because men, women and families have given generously of their time, their talents, and their financial resources.

We are grateful for our past, but the most important year in the history of First Presbyterian Church is this year. This year is the year, and now is the moment, that we hear the voice of our Lord Jesus calling and respond. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Our legacy is built on how this congregation answers the call of Jesus Christ today and how we love Jesus Christ, love one another, love the city and love the world today.

If God has given us the vision, he has given us the means, the tools, the talent, and the people. We need every family in the church to share the blessings God has entrusted to our care. Our church is investing in the future of God’s work through Children’s and Youth ministry. We are providing pastoral care to those who need it. We are providing local ministries with resources and people, and we are providing opportunities for the First family to enjoy fellowship together. Most of all, we are spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. I am asking each one of you to join in FPC’s Heritage of Stewardship and to help us do what God is calling us to do.

Grace and Peace,

Bob Fuller
