“Worship & Rejoice” Hymnal

In February 2020, the FPC Session unanimously approved the recommendation by our Worship Committee to adopt a new hymnal to enrich our congregational singing in our traditional worship services for decades to come.  This was the culmination of an extensive and thoughtful evaluation process that began in April 2019 by a Hymnal Taskforce formed by the Worship Committee.  To read more about that process, see the First Press article that outlines the entire evaluation process.

Our congregation has the opportunity to remember a loved one or honor an individual by purchasing a hymnal for the church that will be placed permanently in the sanctuary or Guthrie-Bryant Chapel as a lasting tribute.  These hymnals will be used weekly for our traditional worship services.

If you would like to help the church offset the cost of this lasting endeavor, please follow the process outlined below:

  • Print the PDF form below and complete the information requested. Hardcopy versions of the form can be found in the church lobby. When purchasing multiple hymnals for the church, you may choose to dedicate all of your donations in the same manner by completing one form or indicate multiple dedications by completing additional forms per hymnal. In addition to specific named dedications, donations can be anonymous and/or given ‘To the Glory of God’ if you do not want to list names.

  • Mailing/Envelope Information:

    First Presbyterian Church

    c/o Music Ministry

    404  Alamo, SA, TX 78205-1918

Attach/enclose the form and mail/return a check to the church (hymnals are $17 each) using the following information –

Check Information:

  • The check should be made payable to “First Presbyterian Church” – please indicate ‘hymnal donation’ in the memo line
  • Hymnals are $17.00 each

Hand Delivery:

  • Forms and checks may be returned to the front desk during the week or placed in the “Hymnal Donation” mailbox in the mailroom on Sundays.

Acquisition of the hymnals will occur this fall with a dedication of the new hymnals occurring on Sunday, October 31, 2021 during the Traditional Worship Services.  Dedications will be printed on a bookplate inside the cover of each hymnal prior to being placed in the Sanctuary or Guthrie-Bryant Chapel.  A full list of dedications will be listed on our website and printed in the bulletin on the Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Donations received later than October 18, 2021 will miss the insert printing deadline for Sunday, October 31, 2021.
