Created to Dream
Under the direction of the Holy Spirit and following His Word
In the sermon series for this fall of 2024, we are reminded of the incredible promises of God as revealed in the visions and dreams He gave His servants Abraham, Joseph, Ezekiel, and John. Fabulous blessings are promised to Abraham— a homeland, countless descendants, and the magnificent purpose of blessing all the nations! Joseph, who was betrayed and sold into slavery by his own jealous brothers, rose to a high management position among his captors; that very position allowed him to rescue his family and nation! Ezekiel, in despair as he saw the rebelliousness of God’s people, was given a vision of deliverance and restoration! John, faithful, exiled John, was given a vision of such beauty—the new Jerusalem, the Holy City, where God actually lives with His people, and death, pain, and mourning are things of the past.
We are Created to Dream—whether it’s in the form of such divine visions and dreams or through the desires and aspirations placed in our human hearts. This ability to dream is rooted in our very nature. The Creator-God who made us in His image (His workmanship, His poem—Ephesians 2:10) made us to be creative as well. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit and following His Word, we imagine things can be different; we solve problems; we repair and build; we see a new direction; we point to the hope, the new way of living, that comes from our Savior. The God who blesses us so richly, who rescues us from famine, who raises dry bones, who promises us life with Him in the beautiful New Jerusalem, also calls us to dream dreams that bless others. In the coming year, we’ll be exploring what God is calling First Presbyterian Church to be and do through our new 10-year strategic plan. Prepare to harness your God-given dreams and all the good gifts God bestows upon us so we can, collectively, be an overflowing fountain of blessing to one another, our city, and our world!

Envision, Equip, Empower
During this stewardship season, we reflect on how we can align with God’s creative vision and fulfill the divine dreams He has placed within us. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to Envision, Equip, and Empower— sharing the good news of God’s faithfulness, love, and the supreme gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, whom we worship and serve. Are we inspired by God’s promises, and do we act with gratitude? Do we recognize and embrace the dreams and generosity God has for us, and do we encourage one another in this mission? How do we serve with purpose and glorify God through the dreams He plants in our hearts? Confident that the Lord, who began a good work in us, will guide the family of First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio, we embrace our calling, knowing we are Created to Dream and to realize those dreams together.
Joyfully and generously support the ministries of FPC!
Dreaming together to glorify God and love one another
We Envision by coming together to worship God and support one another. Fellowship is vital in encouraging and supporting each other on our journey to envision, know, and love God and His people. Our faith community includes Gospel Community Groups, Children’s and Youth events, Young Adult gatherings, and KEYS Older Adults luncheons, ensuring that everyone finds a place to dream.
Living and growing through biblically-relevant teachings
We Equip by fostering growth through biblically-relevant teachings rooted in God’s divine dreams for us. We offer four worship services each Sunday to proclaim God’s Word. Additionally, our extensive lineup of Sunday Schools, Bible Studies, Prayer Trainings, and theologically-focused events supports the spiritual growth and discipleship of all ages.
Loving the city and the world through sacrificial service and multiplied dreaming.
We Empower by extending our dreams into the city and the world, sharing the Gospel and God’s vision. Our recent efforts include church planting (ACC Downtown, Akouo Church, Resurrection Church, and Garden City Church) and our newly launched Alpha program, which introduces the Gospel in a welcoming and innovative manner. Our strong Global and Local Missions provide abundant opportunities to engage and make a difference in the community and the world.
