Sanctification and Truth
John 17:13-17

- GLORIFY HIM (17:1)
- GUARD them and KEEP them (17:11)
- UNIFY HIS PEOPLE (17:11)
- OUR SANCTIFICATION
- 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (17:17)
- “To make holy, or to cause one to have the quality of holiness.”
- 44 For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. (Leviticus 11:44)“You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (I Peter 1:16)
- 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13)
- 17 …your word is truth. (17:17)
- The LIFE HE LIVED. “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. (17:6)
- The TRUTH HE TAUGHT: “For I have given them the words that you gave me.” (17:8)
- They Have RECEIVED and BELIEVED (17:8)
- For the SAKE of OUR JOY!
- But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. (17:13)
- JOY
- RELATIONSHIP.
- …that they may be one, even as we are one. (17:11)
- JOY is a FUNCTION of RELATIONSHIP
- 2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. (James 1:2-3)
- 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
- “In-Joy= EN-JOY”
- 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. (17:15)
