Growing through Study & Fellowship
FPC believes God invites and causes us to grow through study, learning, and prayer. We invite you to grow in your own knowledge of Jesus Christ and the Bible, develop meaningful relationships with other believers, and contribute to the spiritual and physical needs of those who are struggling, both inside and outside the walls of the church.

This class will begin by exploring how the Christian community grew from a persecuted minority to being the recognized church of the Roman Empire, and how the church during the Middle Ages preserved civilization and spread the faith. We’ll then learn about reformers and intellectual currents before the Reformation; highlights and significance of the Reformation in Europe and Britain; the church’s absorption of new scientific knowledge; the Enlightenment; American contributions to Christianity and Western Civilization; the French Revolution; social and intellectual challenges in the 19th century; and modernization of the Roman Catholic Church at Vatican II. We’ll conclude with a look at the distinguishing features of Western Civilization today, which help explain why many people around the world yearn to live in the nations it has shaped. Each Sunday there will be a lecture (and discussion) along with 15-20 pages of optional background reading.
Sundays, January 5 through May 18.
Class time and location TBD.

Jesus commands us to make disciples, but the "how to" can be challenging. Join us as we journey through the gospel of Luke, learning from Jesus' historical training of His disciples to apply His teachings to today's context. This course aims to better equip participants in articulating the hope we have in Jesus (1 Peter 3) to seekers or new believers. Our fellowship is a vibrant mix of ages and experiences, with high participation encouraged. While there is no homework, questions will be provided for contemplation before class meetings.

This Wednesday evening class is presented as part of the Zbinden Center Lay Academy. Join Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller for “Holy Heresies: The Distinctive Doctrines of the Reformation,” as we explore the five principles that have shaped the teaching and practice of the church for 500 years: Grace-alone, Scripture-alone, Christ-Alone, Faith-alone, for God’s Glory-Alone. The “Five-Solas” (from the Latin word “sola,”— alone), are principles that have helped to keep our doctrine, worship, mission, and fellowship faithful to the foundational truth of the gospel and the Biblical witness to Jesus Christ. When properly understood, the five solas provide clarity for belief, inspiration for devotion, and protection from the errors and misrepresentations that undermine healthy discipleship.
