We are here to provide the encouragement and support you need to have a healthy and thriving relationship with your spouse at any stage in your marriage! The Marriage Ministry Committee consists of Bobby and Downie Mickler, Laura and Trebes Sasser, Muffin and Morris Camp, Joe and Sandy Moore, and Ryan and Emily McLaughlin. FPC offers the gift of a Prepare & Enrich Assessment for couples at no cost to you. We encourage all married couples in the church to take the P&E Assessment! Prepare & Enrich is an online assessment you take individually, with follow-up mentoring and counseling together as a couple, either face to face or by Zoom. The cost is covered by FPC as a gift to the commitment to growing your marriage. Saturday, April, 13, 2024 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Westminster Hall Join us for an event focused on marriage with Kristen and Pete Hatton. Kristen is a Christian counselor, writer, and speaker, while Pete is the Family Minister at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX. They will share their wisdom and ignite excitement in our marriages. FREE lunch & childcare are available by reservation. Whether you’re newly married or celebrating decades together, there will be something for everyone to glean from this event. During this event, there will be two insightful sessions. Pete Hatton will explore the aspects of Christian marriage today, rooted in biblical principles. Drawing from his own experiences and deep knowledge of the Word, Pete will shed light on how we can cultivate and sustain thriving marriages as followers of Christ. Kristen Hatton’s session will focus on the intersection of parenting and marriage. As a mother, counselor, and author, Kristen will share valuable insights from her latest book, “Parenting Ahead!” She will guide us through the challenges and joys of navigating the complexities of raising children while nurturing a strong marital bond. We will have breakout sessions thoughtfully curated to provide practical guidance for husbands and wives. “For Men Only – Being Her Husband” & “For Women Only – Being His Wife.” Our marriage ministry partners will be present, offering a wealth of resources and tools for nurturing and strengthening our marriages. Kristen Hatton, MA, LPC-Associate, is a counselor and author passionate about helping families. Her books include Parenting Ahead, Get Your Story Straight, Face Time, and The Gospel-Centered Life in Exodus for Students. She lives with her pastor-husband, Pete, in Dallas, Texas, and together they have three young adult children and a son-in-law. Pete Hatton, MABS, is the family pastor at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. Prior to his recent move back to Dallas, Pete planted and served as the senior pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He has also served college students at Baylor University as the Reformed University Fellowship pastor. Pete is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary with an undergraduate degree from his beloved Penn State University. He has been married to Kristen for 28 years and they have three adult children. 2024 Dates: April 19-21, August 2-4, & December 6-8 All marriages go through times of struggle. This weekend is specifically for when you are feeling distant and in conflict with each other. This is the BEST way to find your way back to love and intimacy with your spouse. Searching for a few more SEASONED MARRIED COUPLES who are interested in MENTORING a pre-married or newly married couple, or a couple in the church looking for some support or direction. We use the Prepare & Enrich Assessment and Workbook which is amazing! It’s not counseling, it is a mentor program. You meet, pray, and do the workbook together with another couple. After you’ve gone through the Prepare & Enrich Assessment online (see above), a current Mentor Couple will contact you to go over the results. Nora and Carlos Rodriguez are owners of the Relational Wellness Center and they work with San Antonio Marriage Institute to help churches facilitate Marriage Ministries. They are Certified Life Coach and Pastoral Counselors, Certified Prepare & Enrich Seminar Directors, and Certified by Family Dynamics Institute. The Marriage Ministry utilizes different curricula including “The Acceptance” by local author, Jon Anderson. Drawing from the latest research, top experts, and 25 years of experience helping couples, Jon R. Anderson reveals what is at the core of what motivates us to desire a mate, and how those dynamics continue to play out for the duration of the relationship.
