Handy Helpers

Handyman Assistance Ministry

Whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for the family of faith.

(Gal. 6:10)

The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians calls them to serve the family of faith. FPC’s congregationally-focused Handy Helpers Care Team works to assist members with small home repair needs. The Team responds for congregational members who are limited by life-challenging situations, an illness, limitations brought on by the aging process, a simple maintenance issue that the member cannot safely perform.

Handy Helpers begin with a home visit to evaluate the repair request and the skills needed to complete the work. They discuss a recommended course of action and, if possible, do the work. This might include replacing light bulbs, installing air conditioner filters, and making minor cabinet repairs.

If licensed technical help is needed or if a project is too complex, the Team offers assistance in identifying and, where required, obtaining that technical expertise.

Why do we have Handy Helpers? One Christian ministry is to provide care for our church family, and a team of people who have the skills to make small repairs is a unique element of that ministry. Our Handy Helpers Team members clearly understand how and when they are able to respond to requests for assistance. They  are a strong outreach group within our church family.
