Stay Alert – Beware of Fake Messages

Dear FPC Family,

It has come to my attention that many of you are receiving emails and texts that claim to be from me (Bob Fuller), asking for gift cards, donations, and other contributions. Please know that these messages are fake and are not from me or FPC. Unfortunately, this kind of “phishing” scam happens often and seems to be increasing. I want to assure you that I have not and will not ask for contributions through text or email, except for officially authorized church programs like stewardship and missions giving.

If you get any suspicious messages, do not respond. Let us know about them instead. As a general rule, I will only ask for gifts or donations by phone (voice) or in person. Official church emails will always consist of the first name and last initial of the staff member and end in @fpcsat.org. Please ignore messages from any other email addresses claiming to be from me or any other FPC staff member.

Additionally, some of you have received fraudulent texts that claim to be from me and ask you to buy Apple gift cards for women battling cancer in the hospital. This too is a scam. Sadly, there’s not much we can do to stop these text messages from reaching you.

If you get such texts, please take a few minutes to report them to the Federal Trade Commission’s Fraud webpage at reportfraud.ftc.gov. It takes about 3-4 minutes. You can also block the sender on most smartphones and report them as junk.

I apologize for any inconvenience these scams may cause. It troubles me that scammers prey on your generosity. This congregation is known for being loving and willing to help others. I pray that the Lord will protect us from those who try to take advantage of our kindness. Despite these scams, please keep your hearts open and continue to be wise and gentle in sharing what the Lord has given you.

Grace and peace,
Bob Fuller (The REAL Bob Fuller)
Senior Pastor
