Our midweek Small Groups are smaller and more intimate than Sunday School. They provide a unique atmosphere where students can relax, be themselves, play, study Scripture and talk about life. Middle School Bible Study meets Wednesday Nights 6:00-7:30 at the church.

In the Presbyterian Church we have a tradition of celebrating our young people when they are ready to make a commitment to the life of the church in a formal way. We do this through the process of Confirmation. This class meets Sunday mornings during the 9:30 a.m. education hour and is open to all interested youth in grades 8–12. Through teaching of Old and New Testament surveys, Church history, creeds/confessions, and worship we explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus as Presbyterian Christians. Students learn through interactive large group teaching, small group discussions and one-on-one mentoring with an adult from the congregation. We celebrate our young people at a special Confirmation Banquet, joined by their parents, mentors and officers of the church. At this dinner, students read their faith statements and take their vows of membership. This year the banquet will be held on May 15, and the students will be received publicly in worship on Confirmation Sunday, May 21, 2017.

Each summer the middle school blocks out a week and dedicates it to serving others in the loving name of Jesus Christ. The week is filled with service, fun, games, studying scripture, great speakers, and more fun and games. The 2016 trip served numerous mission organizations in San Antonio! Stay tuned for next year’s trip! Our Urban plunge this year will be June 4-9, 2017

We will be serving with local mission partners such as:

Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM)

Servant Partners- East Side Ministry

Mission Road Ministries

San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries (SAMM)

The San Antonio Food Bank

Retreats are a great way to get away from it all and have a great time playing games and learning about Jesus. Each year the high school students get out in the wilderness at one of the amazing camps around San Antonio. We play crazy games, make crafts, go on nature walks, eat smore’s, talk about God, and just hang out. It is an awesome time spent with each other away from all of our electronics. The 2017 Middle School Retreat will be February 17-19.

First Presbyterian Church is partnering with World Vision to help Children in desperate need of resources and love. The church is focusing on Mutendere, Malawi. The youth ministry is sponsoring a young boy named John Mvula. We will be collecting money to support him each Sunday morning. We will also be writing him cards and emails, as well as praying for him continually. We would love for you to partner with us in any way you want. Please contact Colton Willis for information on making donations or personally sponsoring a child through World Vision.
