Our Vision for Children
“Living to Make Jesus Visible to Children and their Families.”
The children’s ministry at FPC values worship as a vital part of our lives of faith. Children are invited into worship with their families where they experience various types of worship in Sunday school classes, and through multiple programs and events.
We are committed to equipping families to study, pray, and grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage growth inside and outside the walls of FPC and encourage parents to be the primary disciples of their children.
Service is what draws us together and gives us new eyes to see the world that God has created. We are called to serve together as the body of Christ and we provide opportunities for children and their families to serve together at FPC, in San Antonio, and beyond!
Director of Children’s Ministry
Becky was born in northern California, but spent the majority of her childhood in San Antonio attending First Presbyterian Church as her mother, Kristin Huffman, served as an Associate Pastor. After middle school and high school in Houston, she became a Sooner and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and a minor in Spanish. After college she worked in youth ministry for several years and through that experience felt God’s call to pursue theological education and to learn more about how to serve God’s people. Becky attended Fuller Theological Seminary, where she recently completed a Master of Divinity degree. Becky married Colby in August 2013 and they lived in Augusta, Georgia, as Colby finished his service to the U.S. Navy. She is excited to return to the Lone Star State and to be a part of the church that had such a huge impact on her faith as a young child. Becky looks forward to partnering with the congregation to serve children and teach them about the love and grace of Christ.
Becky is an avid college football fan and enjoys warm weather, Tex-Mex food, running, and sharing life with those around her.

Sonya’s husband is the head softball coach at Our Lady of the Lake University. She has three awesome children. Dusty is a MIS/Finance Pre-Law major at Baylor (Sic ‘em, again!) and Jacob and Gabby are both at Clark High School where Jacob plays football and track and Gabby plays basketball and track. Director of Children’s Day Out
Kitty has directed the First Presbyterian Church Children’s Day Out program for 22 years. She is passionate about leading little children into a relationship with the Lord Jesus, as well as ministering to their parents and teachers. She was the founder and director of two other preschool programs, including The Acorn School in San Antonio, Texas.
Kitty has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. from Michigan State University in Child Development. She enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and summers in Michigan. Some might be surprised to learn that she spent almost every day of her childhood riding horses and won nine Texas state championships! She is married to Rich and together they have a son, Casey, and a granddaughter, Eloise. To her, “living to make Jesus visible” means living out her faith in front of little children so they experience God's unconditional love for them.
