Loving Our Neighbors

Loving Our Neighbors: Overcoming Homelessness

We are invited to join our Local Missions Partners CAM and SAMMinistries as we love our city by serving our neighbors in need.

About CAM

Just like a triage or emergency room, people come to CAM, Christian Assistance Ministry, in all sorts of crises.  No appointment is necessary and all are welcome.  CAM provides many items to meet clients’ immediate physical needs while also addressing the needs of the mind and soul.  CAM is also a vital connection for clients who need long-term support by providing referrals and advocating for the client to other nonprofits and/or government agencies.

About SAMMinistries

SAMMinistries prevents homelessness in San Antonio through a compassionate, holistic approach that brings self-sufficiency, pride and dignity to struggling families with nowhere else to turn.

Local Missions Day of Prayer and Fasting

Thursday, April 25 | 11:45 AM – 10:00 PM | Guthrie-Bryant Chapel

Join us in a day of prayer and fasting for Local Missions on Thursday, April 25. This is an opportunity to gather in the presence of the Lord to offer praise and petition for His ongoing work in restoring and renewing our city in and through our Local Mission Partners. The Guthrie-Bryant Chapel will be open from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM for a come-and-go prayer session at FPC. Prayer guides will be available for those attending in person or praying remotely. For more details, please reach out to Lindsay Sell at lindsays@fpcsat.org. Let us unite in prayer for the advancement of God’s mission in our community.

If you are unable to refrain from food we invite you to fast from something you regularly hunger for (media, news, coffee…) as we prayerfully prioritize hungering for Christ and His kingdom through a day of prayer and fasting.

FPC seeks to join the early church in fasting and praying for mission (Acts 13:23) as we worship the Lord through prayer and fasting (Luke 2:37) and seek His will for our participation in the redemptive restoration of our neighborhoods and the nations (As Nehemiah in 1:3-4 and Ezra 9:4-5).

For more information email Lindsay Selli at lindsays@fpcsat.org.

National Day of Prayer 2024

Please join us on Thursday, May 2, our National Day of Prayer. We will begin at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church Avenue E. Entrance with scripture reading and prayer. We will walk to Travis Park to gather with others and pray for our nation, then continue to Main Plaza, across from the Courthouse, to participate in worship and prayer along with city officials, school children, business owners, police, and many others. The mayor of San Antonio will give the proclamation at noon. If you are unable to walk or plan to come for only part of the program, shuttle vans will be picking up and dropping off at all three sites from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Come participate in the freedom we have to gather and pray for our nation! Let us not take for granted this gift that God has given us in America.
